Our first Game Night : Hour 2
Night falls and we are still having fun. You can even see the empty containers that had some yummy samples from the cafe
From my post yesterday, we know that on this past holiday weekend, with great sunny weather, many gamers joined together at Barnes and Noble to play a couple new games from Buffalo Games. Everyone I spoke with enjoyed the games, the other gamers, and the yummy free food and drink samples that Barnes and Noble was great to offer players. The cookie sample I had was particularly delicious.

As the lively sun set everyone was still having fun. Most tables started the evening playing Likewise! and then moved onto playing The T-Shirt Game. Snacks and drinks and laughter kept the energy alive. We were right next to the cafe so that helped.

As 9:00 seemed to quickly arrive, I started to draw names of those that came that evening for giveaways. The majority of games I post about on this blog and that we will be playing at game nights are fun party, board, card or light strategy games where it really doesn’t matter who wins, they are just fun to play and laugh about so rather than give prizes to “winners” we gave giveaways randomly drawn from tickets that people wrote out and placed in a box that I held and my helpful ticket picker volunter drew from.

That evening we gave away five Barnes and Noble Gift cards and eight games from Buffalo Games. Some copies of Likewise, The T-Shirt Game and Last Word were given away. After all the giveaways were handed out at 9:00 (the official end of the game night) many people stayed to play some more games. Many didn’t end up leaving until almost 11:00 at night. It was a full night of gaming goodness.

I’d like to have another large sponsored game night in a few months. I’ll be speaking with a couple game publishers, as well as Buffalo Games again, to sponsor another game night. In the meantime, I may have a small summer game night, I’ll try to get your thoughts on that as the weeks progress. It was great to wander and see people enjoy playing and saying hi to new and old game friends but I just wish I had more time to play the games myself and sit and chat and get to know everyone more, so perhaps having smaller game nights inbetween the larger ones will fill this gap.
