Gaming with your children

In what seems to be my casual video game day on the blog,  Kristin Kalning, over at MSNBC.com has written a nice article about gaming with your children, titled,  Gaming with kids: Wasted time or worthwhile?  In the article, she asks:

“If you’re raising a kid in today’s society, it’s tough to avoid video games. But maybe you shouldn’t avoid them. Maybe you should play along.”

I posted last year about playing board games with the elderly and children  and age appropriate video games are no different.  With the wide variety of games out there one can find a video game that parents can enjoy with their children.  I have even played 3D Ultra Minigolf on xbox live arcade with my parents who have not played video games since Pac-Man.  The Nintendo Wii is also opening up casual gaming to families.  It’s great to be involved in your child’s life as much as you can.  Win, lose or draw, you’ll have fun and maybe… just maybe your child will think you’re just that little bit more cool  :)

You are so right. My husband plays games with the kids all the time. Good games like Mario and such. The kids do get a kick out of their “old” dad being cool enough to play video games with them. It is great bonding time.
